WoW Moviewatch: Nobody's Quest Episode 6

Well, this is it. The final episode of Nobody's Quest. It's been a thrill to see this weekly series, and I'm a little sad to see it end. Ninth Batter is being very responsible by saying he wants to do more, but can't promise it due to other responsibilities. This sort of thing does take an immense amount of time, so I understand. But I can hope.

This was a good wrap-up. I was surprised how satisfied I felt with the ending. I tend to shy away from love stories. It's not that I think they're bad, it's just that they can go awry pretty quickly. But with a healthy dose of humor and some fun little puns, Ninth kept the whole plot on their rails. Like I said, this was fun stuff. I hope we see more. Interested in the wide world of machinima? WoW Moviewatch: Nobody's Quest: Episode 5

We return to the exposition and story-driven drama of Nobody's Quest with Ring of Fire. The heroes have finally discovered the final villain, the goal of their quest, and the precipice of their final showdown. With a little betrayal and a lot of confusion, Mortimer reaches a startling realization about what's really going on.

I've enjoyed this series immensely. I hope Ninth Batter feels emboldened to keep going after this storyline. The first attempts at storytelling are always the roughest, and I think there's more than enough meat in the ensemble cast to grow the world. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Breakfast Topic: What's the funniest quest in the game?

Breakfast Topic What's the funniest quest in the gameThis question was recently asked on the US forums, and WoW Insider thought it was such a great discussion topic that we'd ask our wonderful readers what they thought. So, as the title puts it, what's the funniest quest in the game?

Several commenters mentioned The Day that Deathwing Came in their replies on the general forums, but I have another Badlands quest for your consideration, and that is It's Goat Time, Baby. Yes, the stories were funny, and the realization that his motorbike could fly, and that it would have been helpful to know that sooner, are both highly entertaining. But, for me, punching goats off the side of Fuselight has that one beat seven ways since Sunday. I love it. I love punching the goats off the steep hills, I love that there's an achievement, Ready, Set, Goat!, for successfully punching the goats at high speed. I love that you get a goat-puncher to do it with. That an NPC actually went to the trouble of creating a specific device for the punching of goats. Everything about this quest is wonderful.

But enough about me and my goat-punching ways, what about you? What's your personal pet quest? What tickles your fancy?

WoW Moviewatch: Nobody's Quest Episode 4

The fourth episode of Nobody's Quest brings us some more sweet, sweet, difficult-to-animate combat. Not only does Ninth Batter step up with more humor and plot action, but we finally see the dark heritage of our gnome protagonist. More importantly, we get some conflict with the villain.

It'll be interesting to see where this story ends up going. There's been such a lack of story-driven machinima for so long, I hope that Ninth is getting enough of a reception to keep going for a while. This kind of weekly series is a huge amount of work, and I'm thankful to see something a little different each scene. Interested in the wide world of machinima? One of the defining aspects of the death knight class is their inimitable voice. That hollow, Darth-esque echo lends a creepy underpinning to the characters. Episode 3 of Nobody's Quest opens up with that subject and then plunges back into the story.

I'm digging how NinthBatter is stepping into character development. Exposition and exploration can be important parts of a character's life. But rather than get trapped in the sticky mess of exposition, Ninth immediately launches into a plot twist and story progression. All in all, I like where this series is going and I keep looking forward to each installment. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! WoW Moviewatch: Nobody's Quest Episode 2

NinthBatter has released the second episode in the Nobody's Quest series. While the plot doesn't leap forward in this video, NinthBatter takes the time grow the characters and expand on his universe. It's an important part of the overall journey, I think, so we can hope it's time well spent.

Ninth has said that this series is growing his respect for the machinimators who perform complex animation. Fight scenes, especially, are a pain in the neck to get right. While that may be true, Nobody's Quest sees a lot of benefit from the exemplary voice acting. You can't undervalue how important skillful and convincing voices are to a machinima. WoW Moviewatch: Nobody's Quest Episode 1

Do you remember Nobody? How about Nobody's creator, Ninth Batter? Both are back with a story-driven machinima called Nobody's Quest Episode 1. With a definite plot, plenty of exposition, and actual narrative structure, Nobody's Quest already looks refreshing and exciting.

The first episode is only a few minutes long, but Ninth already has six episodes in the can. Keep checking back every week for the new episode. Hopefully, this kind of story video will get fans excited and we'll see many more in the future. My hat's off to Ninth Batter for reinvigorating this method of storytelling. Warlock green fire quest reward and more

Warlock green fire quest reward and moreThe exclusive warlock quest to nab green fire now has a quest reward to go with it. Not the expected green fire, but an actual piece of gear. MMO-Champion managed to dig up Akama's Seal of Courage, which is the reward for helping Akama out in the Black Temple -- presumably part of the Black Temple portion of the warlock quest. But how does a clever warlock obtain the quest in the first place?

We don't really know just yet. We do know that according to Ghostcrawler's tweet pictured above, it's not going to be something that players can grab immediately. There is a peculiar and interesting aspect to this whole chain, however, and it's in the form of Deathwing's meddling kiddo. That's right, Wrathion is somehow involved in the chain, according to quest information found over on WowDB. Why, exactly, Wrathion is so invested and involved in what warlocks are up to is also up in the air. For more information on the quest chain, Wowhead has a detailed guide available -- beware, spoilers abound!

Even though we don't have the total picture just yet, the bits and pieces that have been dug up via datamining are making it much harder to ignore my long-forgotten warlock alt. The thought of wielding green fire is pretty cool of course, but it's more the story potential in the chain that fascinates me. Just what are those shadowy masters of demonic entities up to, anyway? Time will tell.

Mists of Pandaria is here! The level cap has been raised to 90, many players have returned to Azeroth, and pet battles are taking the world by storm. Keep an eye out for all of the latest news, and check out our comprehensive guide to Mists of Pandaria for everything you'll ever need to know.

The Queue: Wait, what about that quest

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) just remembered why she hates leveling alts.

Late last night, I finally got my Alliance druid to level 70. I did it the proper way, finishing it up in Outland before moving to Northrend. And then I was really, really excited because I could fly as a really fast bird, instead of the poky-slow bird. After staring at my book, which told me to visit my trainer, conversing with a variety of trainers who had nothing to teach me and then finally consulting Wowhead in order to figure out that I needed to visit a flight trainer, not a class trainer, I was on my way.

That is, until I visited the flight trainer and realized Swift Flight Form was going to cost me 5k. After staring forlornly at the paltry 1.7k on my alt, I logged off. Whatever happened to just murdering a big bird in an instance? Come on.

Edymnion asked:

Do you think we will get more than one set of new dailies this expansion? Blizzard seems to be wanting us to use LFR more for gearing up as opposed to constantly releasing new tiers of dungeons like they did in Cataclysm. I'm sure we'll get at least one more set of dungeons (like the End of Time dungeon set in Cata, or the ICC 5 mans in Wrath), but do you think we'll see an intermediary set like the Zuls this time around?

I think you're asking if we're going to get more than one set of new dungeons rather than dailies? If so, I honestly have no idea -- I suspect we'll see another set of dungeons at least, since each expansion has added a few that weren't in the original release of said expansion so far. I don't know how many dungeons exactly, but I imagine we'll see a few. Whether they're released all in one patch, or over a couple of patches ... well, I have no idea!

csaltman1 asked:

Wait, does the sheildwall item increase rep for my main too? I thought it only increased rep for my alts. Could I have been using it for my own rep all this time?

Absolutely. As soon as you hit revered with a faction, get the commendation. It'll increase your rep gain for every character on your account, including your main -- which makes that grind to exalted far more bearable than ever before.

JuliusWolf asked:

Since they are removing item upgrading in 5.2 do you think it is worthwhile to upgrade what we can before that happens? I don't raid so my Raid Finder Claw's of Shek'zeer are likely the best weapon I will be getting for a while, should I upgrade them now before the feature disappears?

Yes. Upgrade everything you can. Even if it's not on par with the things that drop in whatever iteration of LFR we are getting with the new raid, it'll still last you for quite some time. After all, you aren't going to get every piece of new gear your heart desires in one run. Besides, what else are you going to spend all that valor on? Upgrade away!

Revynn asked:

I just got my legendary gem and started on the next phase. This is the last available part of the questions until 5.2, correct? No rush?

Yep! Although I have to warn you now -- you're going to be collecting 6k valor points for Wrathion before you end that portion of the chain. That's a minimum of six weeks of valor capping. So there literally is no rush, because it's impossible to rush through it.

@RyanStormrage asked via Twitter:

what do you think of blizzard nerfing blade flurry to balance then giving monks the same ability?

Honey, I play Assassination. I am perfectly fine with them adjusting Blade Flurry because it means I don't have to sit there and fiddle and fidget and switch around to Combat just because one particular boss out of however many happens to have a lot of adds, or responds really well to cleave damage. Basically, I played Combat back in Burning Crusade, I switched to Assassination in early Wrath, and between then and now Combat has changed so much that I absolutely loathe it.

So if they make it so that I don't feel like it is an absolute necessity to play a spec that I hate just to do more damage, I am perfectly fine with that. Giving it to monks, however ... Let's just say that I don't particularly care for monks, and leave it at that*.

@wrenworkman asked via Twitter

In your opinion what century/decade would you place WoW's tech level?

Honestly, I don't think there's a real answer to that question. Some things seem fairly low-technology in Azeroth, but at the same time we've got naaru ships that basically warp through space from one point to another. I mean ... it's so varied that there's no real way to pin it down to just one time period. But that's fantasy for you.

@sergel92 asked via Twitter:

Given the current rate of the xpac, how many patches do you think Mists will have? Will it be 3,4,5, or more?

I'd say more than that. Honestly, with the speed that patches are coming out, I'm thinking we may see seven or eight before the expansion is over. Not every patch will have substantial huge things in it -- I expect it'll be a little more like vanilla. Patches in vanilla were varied. Sometimes we got new content, sometimes we just got cool stuff like weather added to the game. There were a lot of patches in vanilla.

*Get your grubby leather-wearing paws off my agi gear, impostors.

Elite Battle Pet quest line: Beasts of Fable

New Battle Pet quest line Beasts of Fable
Have you ever read the great Pandaren book of fables? Pandaren pass these stories on to their cubs - stories of the cricket and the hawk, or the slow-moving turtle - to teach them lessons that they will find useful in life. What few cubs know is that these creatures exist, here, in Pandaria! Though the stories of their travels are made up, they are powerful denizens of this world. Should you happen upon them in your travels, you may test the might of your pets against their storied statures. Take on the fabled beasts!
Wowhead has published new information today on two quests from the patch 5.2 PTR, both with the same title, that allow the player to take on what's called an Elite Battle Pet. These quests are both known as Beasts of Fable, and the fact that one is a single quest, and one a daily quest, might imply that the quest becomes a daily after its first completion.

Commenter Ozlem states that the new Elite Pets are easy to spot thanks to their distinctive yellow pawprint icon replacing the standard green one. They add that these pets are of orange, or legendary quality, higher than the purple quality epic pets. Ozlem notes that so far he has found just one per zone, and listed out their spawn points. He adds that, fortunately, they cannot be killed at present.

What do the quests reward? The non-daily version awards a Red Panda pet, which you may recall Panser mentioning in her pre-PTR round-up, and the presumably subsequent daily versions award Fabled Pandaren Pet Supplies, which can contain a Mountain Panda, Sunfur Panda, or a Snowy Panda as well as the usual supplies.
Mists of Pandaria is here! The level cap has been raised to 90, many players have returned to Azeroth, and pet battles are taking the world by storm. Keep an eye out for all of the latest news, and check out our comprehensive guide to Mists of Pandaria for everything you'll ever need to know.

Breakfast Topic: What's your favorite quest mechanic?

Breakfast Topic What's your favorite quest mechanicRemember when everyone loved to hate The Oculus? Group members dropped like flies the moment some hapless noob intimated not having flown a drake before. Or jousting in the Argent Tournament -- ah, yes, another quest mechanic that united many players with the burning passion of unmitigated hatred.

The thing is, some players like varied quest mechanics, even flying things and jousting at things. They like a change of pace from MMO standards such as Kill 10 Rats and the Fed Ex breadcrumb delivery (or in Blizzard's case, anything to do with poop). Me, I usually resent the intrusion. I prefer to play my character, galloping around the hills to find things and using my entire arsenal of spells to peek, tweak, and then slay everything in my path. I must admit, though, that Mists of Pandaria could be swaying me from this stoic path. While I'm adamantly not a fan of the quests that put you in the shoes of the quest giver and his saga, the general variety of quest mechanics has been ... distracting. Refreshing. Dare I go so far as to even say they're downright fun? A little variety is turning out to possibly be a good thing.

(I said "a little." I still want to play my character. Harrumph.)

Do you enjoy playing a variety of quest mechanics as you move through WoW's storylines, or do you prefer to stay in your character's own skin with your own spells and abilities? What are your favorite quest types? Which would you be just as happy to never encounter again?
